A large security system integrator who specializes in the retail and fast food sector was awarded a multi year national accounts contracts with two nationwide retailers. NITEK worked in unison with the systems integrator to implement a twisted pair CCTV solution. Previously, coax has been the bedrock of all their previous installs. However, with the onset of IP, both customers expressed a desire to eventually implement this emerging technology. The systems integrator sought a way to separate themselves from their competitors and NITEK’s ingenuity brought them to the forefront.
The system integrator’s clients all had similar design parameters for their stores; relatively small dimensions, with six to eight fixed indoor mini dome cameras, head-ends typically located in rear offices with out racks or space to accommodate them, and cable distances of 30ft to 100ft. NITEK introduced them to the PV824 as the ideal solution. The PV824 is NITEK’s sturdy wall mounted lockable 8 channel power supply, with a built in 8 channel video receiver hub, and PTZ control pass through. This one of a kind device enabled the systems integrator to eliminate the cost of coax/power cable combinations, intrusive racks, and provide an effective pathway to IP with minimal upgrade expenditures. CAT5e was run to each camera location some of which was already in place. This enabled the transmission of both power and video through the VB43ATF video balun combiner. The VB43ATF’s connectivity LED’s, integrated coax pigtail, and RJ45 modular connector made for a “…..very clean install and was a major selling point” according to the lead project manager. The end user was pleased with the systems overall performance and the low footprint that the NITEK’s equipment had in conjunction with the stores aesthetic standards.
